Madonna

The Madonna statue is an outstanding, handmade art object designed by OK Stipe Atelier. The sculpture, made from the local stone, is a carrier of people´s devotion to Madonna and her spiritual meaning to the people of Brac throught the history. Almost every home on the island has at least on Madonna statue.

Since ancient times the Brac quarries supplied a great number of notable buildings with stone: the most famous one is Diocletian’s Palace in Split, the Cathedral of St. James in Sibenik and the Cathedral of St Lawrence in Trogir and which have been under World Heritage (UNESCO) protection.
